My name is Angie Nelson. Raised in Shafter since my high school years. I am currently the Program Manager at Shafter Youth Center. I started my first job, at 14 years old, where I learned about the love of working with the community and serving kids of all ages. My proceeding careers were in education and retail, working from Bakersfield, Lost Hills and Santa Barbara, until present day.
I enjoy serving my community and I do so in several capacities. I love my job with Community Action Partnership of Kern, where I not only serve the kids at the Shafter Youth Center, but I work with people of all ages, through programs like Energy, VITA and Food Bank. I love being able to teach kids new things and to take them to see and experience new adventures. To me community is everything. I also serve my community in my spare time with local service clubs. I am involved in service clubs at local, district and state levels. I also serve on the AB617 Steering Committee for Shafter. I am a former recipient of the Shafter Chamber of Commerce’s Award for Youth Development in 2014. I am also a commissioned Notary Public for the State of California.
I look forward to serving my beloved Shafter, and am excited to learn new things from the great people at Shafter Chamber of Commerce and City of Shafter. More importantly, I am honored and proud to serve our great people.
